Lori at work

I worked in the school system for 30 years. My husband & I raised a family of three very spirited and active daughters. When they flew the nest, our home became so quiet that THE TURNED TWIG was born. As a result of this empty nest I took several lathe turning classes in the Bay Area and Utah and was immediately hooked.

Like a baby learning to walk, I started with wood but soon discovered the wonderful medium of deer horn. The horn presented me with a few challenges because of the wide range of color, texture and irregular size. The odious fragrance was also a challenge but soon forgotten when the piece begins to emerge into the final work of art.

After the sanding, polishing and waxing each finished piece still thrills me. I have lost count of the number of times my husband has heard..."Honey, I think this one is my best".

I hope each item you purchase will be "the best" treasured gift for you or a loved one and continue to bring many, many years of pleasure.
